Description
WYS START is an employment focused mentoring programme which sees navigators journeying with youth (15 – 24 year olds who are currently not in employment, education or training) on a pathway into sustainable employment through intensive pastoral care, and one-on-one sessions.WYS START works as a triage approach that sees our Team working alongside the whanau, employers and the enrolled youth. This is to enable and understanding and wrap around support from both their whanau and potential workplace as they transition into employment pathways. Young People gain life skills and work ready development while working with their Navigator and opportunities for social connection though Wananga sessions with other Young People in their intake. WYS START assist Young People in obtaining their essential documents i.e. Birth Certificates, IRD Numbers, Bank Accounts opened. Youth also have the opportunity to become certified in qualifications that are relevant to future opportunities (First Aid certified and driver licensing) as part of the WYS START Programme. When the youth is successfully employed the Young Person will continue to receive ongoing support from their WYS START Navigator.
