WFCT – Positive Youth Development

The Wayne Francis Charitable Trust is a champion for positive youth development (PYD).

The trust produced and maintains the Positive Youth Development in Aotearoa (PYDA), an online resource that sets out a framework to help people working with our rangatahi to better support them through several key outcomes and approaches. The outcomes involve helping rangatahi develop as a whole person and building connected communities to support them. The approaches involve empowering rangatahi and helping them develop positive relationships with others. The PDYA was developed in collaboration between researchers, youth sector experts and young people.

Alongside this resource, the WFCT runs the Youth Development Champions (YDC) Project, which provides training based on the PYDA framework. THE WFCT states that this training is appropriate for anyone who works with or for young people. To find out more about the training, visit the YDC website.
